Quilled Sheep Thinking of Ewe (You) Love Card

My first "Thinking of You" card, which can be used for all occasions. But who says you need an occasion anyway? Nothing sweeter than a message to let that special person know that he/she is in your thoughts, any time of day!

I must say, though I thoroughly enjoy crafting and quilling and exploring new ideas, the tech part of this does get a little tiring sometimes! Taking photographs (searching for good lighting and angles), editing photographs when they don't come out as an accurate depiction of the card, posting the pictures online, making a new listing on Etsy and Blogspot - wow!

If only there was a Marketing Department :) but alas! I do not have that luxury.

Quilled Teddy Bears I Love you Beary Much Card

A simple card I quilled this week - teddy bears again! Full of love and sweetness :)

They look so cuddly I wanna hug 'em.

Words are a bit faded in this photo but rest assured they are printed clear and black.

Have a 'beary' happy weekend!

Baby Girl Pink Teddy Bear Pop Up Card with Quilled Heart

It's the middle of the week and still a while more to the weekend. But this treasury I was featured in, Dream in Color by Mary Louise is so bright and colorful it cheered me up for the rest of the day. The quilled heart gift tags in rainbow colours are especially cute!

I'm on holiday now and have been on a bit of a card-making craze. That, and going to the gym are what make up the bulk of my life now. There are 2 cards that I cannot show because the recipient hasn't gotten them and 3 completed cards that are sitting on my desk right now.

Here's one of them!

I tried the same teddy bear pop up again (by Rich of Creative Pop Up Cards), but in pastel pink this time for a baby girl card.
This is so versatile : it can be used as a baby announcement card, congratulations on a new baby, invitations to a baby shower, a little girl's birthday - the list is endless!

The little sweetie in her favorite red hair bow and clutching a pacifier in her left paw.

She was supposed to be holding a milk bottle too, but I kept cutting it wrongly and in the end, exasperated, I decided that she probably wouldn't be holding so many things anyway!

I also added punched red hearts to the corners.

Can't go for long without a teensy bit of quilling!

Front view.

And finally Little Pink Teddy says :
Happy Chinese New Year everybody!
新年快乐,祝你们身体健康,年年有余,万事如意!

p.s. Submitting this for a Crafty Challenge (the first I'm participating in)! The theme is Something New, and I'm submitting under New Baby. Fingers are crossed!

Pop Up Valentine's Love Bear Card with Quilled Heart

I've been a bit crazy about pop up cards lately. They're just as time consuming as quilled cards because extreme precision is required for every measurement, but when other crafters are generous enough to share their ready-drawn patterns, it becomes slightly easier!

Here's an adorable teddy bear by Rich from Creative Pop Up Cards

This little sweetheart pops up at you and presents you with a big red heart as the card is opened.

A simple quilled heart to adorn the front :)

One last peep.

My Love Spiral Pop Up Card got into yet another treasury!
What a week this is turning out to be.

Christmas/Valentine's Quilled Heart Cards

Here's what I've been busy with - Christmas mini cards!

First I quilled the hearts.

Then I made the backing with space for a message. Wanted to decorate the back a little more but I had less than a week to finish 40 of these sweeties.

Glued on the quilled hearts, personalized it with a message from me as well as the recipients' names, and voila!

Arranged neatly in my Christmas box, all ready to be Miss Santa =)

Close-up of a card.

I'd actually thought making these would be a breeze (the heart is the easiest thing to quill, after all!) - but making 40 was NO joke. Even so, I'm not done; there are plenty more people I need to make cards for and am super late!

I hope they won't mind <3 Maybe it'll be a Valentine!

Busy as a bee

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, trials are coming up and my to-do list is piling up like presents on Christmas day. Just not as pleasant.

I've been busy with the bulk order of 10 Love Spiral Pop Up Cards, and I'm thinking I bit off a little more than I can chew - it'll definitely be done on time, but oh, how tired I am of the colour red.

Never mind. It will all be worth it when I see a stack of 10 beautiful cards on my craft desk =)

Quilled Valentine's Day bookmarks

I made a couple of bookmarks for a friend and another friend's mother for Valentine's Day and forgot to share : here they are!
I don't know why but the colours are a little washed out. They looked beautiful on my craft desk, but the photos don't do them justice =(

I adore this little guy.

This was my first ever attempt at the technique of alternate side looping.
Kinda sad to give her away (yes, the butterfly's a her, though I didn't give her a name) but I'm sure she made that special person happy so that's all good.

Have a lovely weekend everyone =)

Quilled Flowers and Pop Up Card

I think this is the most elaborate quilling project I have made so far. The whole card took me all of 11 hours to finish, and I still hadn't done my college homework. Slept at 4 a.m. that night, but it was worth it!

My little fringed pretty =) she reminds me of the pom poms I used to wave around when I was involved in high school Sports Day cheerleading.

Techniques used were : Basic quilling, fringing, double fringing and alternate side looping. Oh, and punching, if that counts. I punched out little pink butterflies to flutter around the sides =)

The inside of the card is my Love Spiral Pop Up Card - with a twist.
Instead of L-O-V-E, my customer/friend requested for the recipient's name to be the pop up. The spiral heart would take the place of an "A".

oh it's so pretty, my heart just broke to part with it. I do hope the person likes it! =D

p.s. I did this with inspiration from Inna, once again!

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Hello everybody, Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai to you!

For all my international readers who don't know what I'm talking about, Gong Xi Fa Cai can be translated as "May you have happiness and prosperity this coming year!". Literally, it simply means "congratulations on your prosperity".

(aren't these cupcakes adorable? I love the cherry blossom tree!)

This Thursday is the first day of the Chinese New Year and is a great occasion for Chinese all over the world. We return to our hometowns, meet up with 'long-lost' relatives, eat traditional food (and lots of cookies and Chinese New Year goodies!), and just enjoy this happy time with family (a little like how Christmas is celebrated in the West). Children are always the happiest because we (anyone unmarried, not just children) get to receive angpau! Angpau are red packets with money inside - many people's favorite part of Chinese New Year =D

I will be going to my auntie's house in Negeri Sembilan, so I may not be updating for some time but will still be crafting!

In the meanwhile, here is a Chinese New Year treasury that my dear little paper clips have been featured in :

Remember the Love Spiral Pop Up Card that I made a while back?
Well, seems like this is everyone's favorite so far! I've sold so many of this that I could probably make one in less than 3 hours. It's been featured in 3 treasuries so far and 10 people have hearted it on Etsy! I feel so happy whenever I look at the listing and see the 10 hearts =)

Here are the treasuries, do drop by and share some love.

Have a great Chinese New Year everyone!

Valentine's Day You're So Sweet Cupcake Card

What better way to say "You're so sweet!" than with a card full of sweet treats? I made this for Valentine's Day, but it can be used for any occasion at all. Wedding anniversaries, Mother's Day, a thank you to someone sweet, a little token of appreciation or just to tell someone what you think of them =)

A glittered cupcake and patterned flowers adorn the front of this card, with a lollipop and candy on the inside. All the embellishments are glittered. =)

I'm thinking of exploring 3D quilling next! Sometimes I wish I didn't have to study and could just craft full time instead.

Quilled flowers and coffee cups

Here are some cards I made over the festive season but didn't have the time to share :

This was a birthday card for a friend. SO glad her name had 2 "I"s, otherwise the letters wouldn't have been able to fit in one card!

Complete with quilled steam and handles, these dear little coffee cups were requested as a Christmas greeting from a loyal daughter to her parents.

The flowers are all dimensional - one of my favourite techniques.
This card can be used as a Valentine's Day or wedding anniversary card as well. Or maybe wedding invitations?

College starts tomorrow. I can feel the dread sinking in already. Goodbye, holidays.
