Valentine's Day You're So Sweet Cupcake Card

What better way to say "You're so sweet!" than with a card full of sweet treats? I made this for Valentine's Day, but it can be used for any occasion at all. Wedding anniversaries, Mother's Day, a thank you to someone sweet, a little token of appreciation or just to tell someone what you think of them =)

A glittered cupcake and patterned flowers adorn the front of this card, with a lollipop and candy on the inside. All the embellishments are glittered. =)

I'm thinking of exploring 3D quilling next! Sometimes I wish I didn't have to study and could just craft full time instead.

Quilled flowers and coffee cups

Here are some cards I made over the festive season but didn't have the time to share :

This was a birthday card for a friend. SO glad her name had 2 "I"s, otherwise the letters wouldn't have been able to fit in one card!

Complete with quilled steam and handles, these dear little coffee cups were requested as a Christmas greeting from a loyal daughter to her parents.

The flowers are all dimensional - one of my favourite techniques.
This card can be used as a Valentine's Day or wedding anniversary card as well. Or maybe wedding invitations?

College starts tomorrow. I can feel the dread sinking in already. Goodbye, holidays.

Subway brochure origami rose

Subway is really cranking up on the sales promo, what with a free calendar for every customer (complete with 12 coupons, one for each month of 2011) and brightly coloured brochures with the menu and yummy looking pictures.

Our family had lunch there a few days ago, and being me, I simply couldn't leave that piece of paper alone.

In about 5 minutes, the Subway brochure had turned into this :
In case you couldn't tell, that's a rose.

And here is the torn brochure. No. 11 looks yummy. Turkey breast!

Maybe I'll make a bouquet one of these days, if I have the time. And enough Subway brochures.

Miyyah@Kertas giveaway

Miyyah@Kertas is having her first giveaway!

Just check out this pretty photo album which she has decorated with quilling :
The giveaway album won't be exactly like this, but is also of the same type of quilling. Isn't it lovely?

Miyyah is one of the best Malaysian quillers around and I must say I've gotten a lot of inspiration from her. What I really love is her generosity in sharing bargain finds, like the Mini USB Paper Shredder which I just checked out at Cineleisure today!

To stand a chance to win this lovely handcraft of Miyyah's, drop by here and leave her some love!

Flowers, flowers, flowers.

This is what I spent the whole weekend doing : Quilled Flower Paper Clips!

I listed them in my Etsy shop as a set of 6 (Princess Pink, Sunset Orange, Daisy White, Ocean Blue, Ravishing Red and Pretty Purple), and they sold the very same day, just a few hours later! I think the buyer is planning to give them out as little Christmas gifts. Whee =D

It took me almost 2 whole days to make, especially as I don't own a pair of pliers to attach the metal rings.
Hurt my fingers =(
But I still love looking at them, they're so adorable!

I made them into pendants as well, but I think the clippies are cuter =)

Oh dear, enough of flowers already. Imma go quill some snowgirls now.
And I'm supposed to be practicing piano, I've got my ATCL diploma exam tomorrow. Quaking in my boots, but I hear my examiner is pretty friendly so here's to a Pass!

Su-Zanne's wedding

Hey there, I'm back! Been really really busy the past week, what with exams, and my piano exam coming up this  Wednesday. But thankfully college exams are over, and I can once again quill to my heart's content =)

My dear cousin, Su-Zanne got married yesterday, and it went beautifully =) The shoe game they played was really cute!
It goes like this : Suzanne was wearing bright red heels, and Joseph was wearing black leather shoes. Both of them sat back to back on the platform, and they exchanged one shoe. So each of them would hold a red shoe in one hand, and a black shoe in the other. The emcees would ask them a question, eg : "Who wears the pants in this relationship?" and they had to answer by lifting up one shoe! Bright Red Shoe = Su-Zanne and Black Leather Shoe = Joseph. If their answers didn't correspond, they'd have to kiss =D Very cute.

Here's a congratulatory card I made for Su-Zanne yesterday :

She's such a bubbly pleasant person to be around, and he seems like a very very nice guy as well : I see a very happy marriage ahead for this fun-loving couple!

Quilled Monogram Initial and Pop Up Christmas Card

I wanted to try my hand at quilled initials, twould make it so easy to personalize each card!
So I started with the letter R. Just because.

Also had a lot of fun making this christmas pop-up card! A simple template by Robert Sabuda.

And the whole card is elegantly tied with bright red ribbon.

A quilled flower paper clip I made for a classmate's birthday.

I've been wanting to put this up for aaaages, but i had to wait until I'd given it to my friend or it would spoil the surprise!

Haunted House Pop Up

Looking back at the quilled flowery card I made a while ago, I felt it was pretty, but lacked what I call the "ooomph". So I decided to add in the haunted house (which i was told is a private joke) as a pop up =D

TA DAH!

a pair of sinister eyes watches the doorway for any unwary visitors.

I was positively determined that the roof should be grey. But no book shop sells grey paper! trust me, i searched every shop i knew. So I had to resort to using the back side of a piece of silver paper.

Code : AOC003
the inspiration/design was by a fellow crafter called Leisha. she's amazing! Had to make the house twice, as I accidentally cut the wrong lines the first time. =S HUGE headache. But now I feel so proud of it =) my first major pop-up card!

I do think my little ghosts are rather adorable, don't you? ; )

of Mr Lotso and God's love.

Found out last week that the guitar card I made, was actually meant for a girl. Whoops!
Also, the white guitar that she wanted for her birthday was acoustic, not an electric guitar. Double whoops!

So I remade the card.
Code : AOC005

Close up of the cross :

Inside : the white acoustic guitar she wanted  =)

I know, musically this is all wrong. Like how the 'd' in birthday can't seem to decide whether it wants to be a quaver or a minim. But hey, creative licence!

I put a lot of symbolism into this card - wonder if you'll see it the way I do?
Here's the 'hidden meaning' in my design :

The heart enclosing all the flowers -
God's love encompassing all
(and hence linked to the cross, which was a request to be included in the card).

4 swirls radiating from the cross/centre of the heart :
The fact that we are asked to also radiate God's love to all 4 corners of the earth.

Gold and silver :
The kingship of Jesus, but also a direct reference to the recipient's name Alycia.
I googled it! and it means noble / royal.

Purplish pink teddy bear :
She has a purplish pink teddy bear called Mr. Lotso. =D
so it's not some random bear, it's Mr Lotso to you!

That was a fun card to make! Felt a little loath to part with it =P

Burst of colours =)

AOC003
Birthday card! The colours look so striking on black and white =)

Quite surprised that I managed to finish it in a day and a half, actually, considering that those flowers REFUSED to be glued together, despite multiple attempts and rivers of glue. In the end I had to hold them with my finger firmly, sitting there glaring at it, until the glue dried. =D

But I quite like how it turned out! =)
