Sweet Lovebirds and a Snowflake

Just a few things I made over the weekend :
My first love-themed card! A pair of starstruck lovebirds gazing at each other in a big red heart.
Code : Love01
Kinda reminds me of that childhood song : Peter and Janey sitting on a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!

Finally got a chance to use that silver rick-rack I've been saving up! I bought it at a Christmas fair, but never got the chance to use it.

I swear, making Christmassy things is so addictive. I'm supposed to be studying but I can't tear myself from quilling! So here's another snowflake!
Code : MS006

Comes in white, pink, blue, red and green.

Sigh. I am so dead. It's one week to semester finals and I'm quilling instead of studying. The only subject I've touched so far is chemistry. If only academics weren't so important in today's world! Then I could keep on quilling and not worry at all =)

Anyway. It's 11:30pm, and I'm off to study! Ta, my dears.

Quilled Flower Paper Clip

A quilled flower paper clip I made for a classmate's birthday.

I've been wanting to put this up for aaaages, but i had to wait until I'd given it to my friend or it would spoil the surprise!

Temporary Hiatus

Hellooo!

I've really enjoyed making cards and bookmarks galore these past few weeks, but the time has come to stop. Not for good, no worries! but just for the time being. Exams are coming and I'm hopelessly far behind because I didn't prioritize as I should have. The ready made cards are still available anytime. Custom orders are also welcome but please bear in mind that I will not start making it till my exams are over =)

thanks so much to everyone who's supported and encouraged me so far!

 yuen.

Money tree, and more origamic architecture!

Making a card for an ambitious guy who's into high end fashion was no piece of cake, but I enjoyed every second of it! Here's the result =)

Code : AOC007
Size : 14.85 cm x 21 cm
The space below the building will be white or blue, for message writing.

This is how the ultimate LV outlet should look like =D

pretty door handles =)
(the writing and detailing are all done in gold and bronze pens, but the faint gleam can't be seen in the photo).

Again, in bronze and gold.

Just to show you the shine, lol.

a theme of "wealth" was requested, hence the money tree on the front cover.
All the leaves were made out of Malaysian Ringgit =)

p.s. Almost all the 90 degree templates I use are from Willem's Origamic Architecture. I modified this one, though =)

Shooting Stars and Sheep

This was done as a gift to a friend : he wanted a shooting star, a couple side by side, and grazing sheep.
Quite happy with how it turned out : simple but sweet. I do think I should have kept the focus more on the couple though. Right now the viewer's focus is a little diverted because of the sheep.

It's a little as if the shooting star is gonna fall right into her hand =)

An indifferent sheep stands on the hill while the shepherd keeps watch over a sleeping lamb. And the curious little one gazes into the sky with wonder at the glittery swoosh.

I <3 my curious little one! =)

European/Middle Eastern courthouse

Made this card for my Youth Teacher, whose birthday is next week. (The only reason I'm posting this is because he doesn't read my blog!)
Code : AOC006
This is supposed to resemble a European, or Middle Eastern courthouse (I'm not very good at architectural history =S), because he's a lawyer by profession.

The outside of the card, and a teeny quilled heart.

Penguin bookmark!

aren't they adoooorable? =)

Code : BM001
A friend requested a bookmark with an animal on it, and because he kept sending me penguin emoticons on facebook, I quilled him 2 penguins with silver snowflakes all around. cute right? =D

I also added his (my friend's) name up there below the first penguin, but this photo was taken before I did it.

Haunted House Pop Up

Looking back at the quilled flowery card I made a while ago, I felt it was pretty, but lacked what I call the "ooomph". So I decided to add in the haunted house (which i was told is a private joke) as a pop up =D

TA DAH!

a pair of sinister eyes watches the doorway for any unwary visitors.

I was positively determined that the roof should be grey. But no book shop sells grey paper! trust me, i searched every shop i knew. So I had to resort to using the back side of a piece of silver paper.

Code : AOC003
the inspiration/design was by a fellow crafter called Leisha. she's amazing! Had to make the house twice, as I accidentally cut the wrong lines the first time. =S HUGE headache. But now I feel so proud of it =) my first major pop-up card!

I do think my little ghosts are rather adorable, don't you? ; )

of Mr Lotso and God's love.

Found out last week that the guitar card I made, was actually meant for a girl. Whoops!
Also, the white guitar that she wanted for her birthday was acoustic, not an electric guitar. Double whoops!

So I remade the card.
Code : AOC005

Close up of the cross :

Inside : the white acoustic guitar she wanted  =)

I know, musically this is all wrong. Like how the 'd' in birthday can't seem to decide whether it wants to be a quaver or a minim. But hey, creative licence!

I put a lot of symbolism into this card - wonder if you'll see it the way I do?
Here's the 'hidden meaning' in my design :

The heart enclosing all the flowers -
God's love encompassing all
(and hence linked to the cross, which was a request to be included in the card).

4 swirls radiating from the cross/centre of the heart :
The fact that we are asked to also radiate God's love to all 4 corners of the earth.

Gold and silver :
The kingship of Jesus, but also a direct reference to the recipient's name Alycia.
I googled it! and it means noble / royal.

Purplish pink teddy bear :
She has a purplish pink teddy bear called Mr. Lotso. =D
so it's not some random bear, it's Mr Lotso to you!

That was a fun card to make! Felt a little loath to part with it =P

Handmade guitar card

In the process =)

Finished!

Inside view

 AOC004

A friend requested a card with a white guitar and here is the result. White guitar with gold detail and real strings! REAL STRINGS. The strings were awful to maneuver : never thought metal could be so stubborn LOL.

On a separate note : I think I seriously need to do more research on cards for guys. No flowers, no ribbons, no swirls, no glitter, no nothing! =S

Burst of colours =)

AOC003
Birthday card! The colours look so striking on black and white =)

Quite surprised that I managed to finish it in a day and a half, actually, considering that those flowers REFUSED to be glued together, despite multiple attempts and rivers of glue. In the end I had to hold them with my finger firmly, sitting there glaring at it, until the glue dried. =D

But I quite like how it turned out! =)

Teddy bear, sold!

Just sold my first card! =) It feels gooooood, and Ema said the teddy bear is adorable. My first customer is happy! =)

Gonna work on my other orders now. Finally, after a 2 day hiatus (because i needed to study for an econs test), I can quill again! Oh how beautiful the world is today!

Ta, lovely people.
